NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF HEALTH
The NIH has a wealth of knowledge at their website drugabuse.gov. If you’re ready to learn more about cocaine, fentanyl, or treatment options, this is a good first step.
FAITH-BASED RESOURCES
We have prepared a set of awareness and education resources for the faith-based communities.
FIND TEST STRIPS
Fentanyl testing strips are mostly used by people who inject opioids. Drugs in pill or powder form can also be tested (i.e. cocaine, MDMA, ketamine, and other non-injectable drugs) but must be mixed with water prior to testing. Since fake pills may have fentanyl very unevenly mixed into them, the entire pill should be crushed to be sure none is missed.
Testing at the Insite Safe Injection Facility in Vancouver showed that during one month in 2016 86% of ALL DRUGS tested were positive for fentanyl, whether pills or powder. Any amount of fentanyl can be deadly.
The Centers and Circle Health Services
Provide injection drug users with clean supplies, fentanyl test strips, and education to prevent infection and other harm to the user. They operate one of the only syringe exchange programs in Ohio. Also offer free naloxone kits. No appointment is necessary—walk-ins are welcome.
Addiction services and test strip locations can be found at The Centers. Please visit their website for more information. www.thecentersohio.org/services/addiction
